Another attempt

Wow – As I log into WordPress after years – literally, Everything has changed.

Firstly the Credit card information fed had expired so I have lost my domain mapping & domain I guess. Secondly WordPress format, options have changed and it is unfamiliar of course.

Anyway, this website was launched in 2015 around my 25th birthday and then I vanished away – poof! Since I turned 30 last month, I had been considering to get back to this, but just ended up procrastinating. Now that I am here, I will give this another sincere shot. Hopefully this time it’ll stick. I am an older, wiser, more consistent version of myself after all 🙂

My first Colourpop lipsticks!

Holaa!

This post is about my first batch of Colourpop lipsticks

I ordered the lipsticks in January and was thrilled when I received them. Had to pay almost 2000 as custom duty, but it was worth every penny.

The lip colors are amazing, very different shades, variety of colors for every skin tone and long lasting too. If you like matte finish liquid lipsticks, you’ve GOT to try these!

The liquid lipcolours come in Ultra matte, Ultra Satin and Ultra metallic finish.

I ordered 4 from their Ultra matte range and 1 from the Ultra satin range

The shades I ordered were:

1. Mama – it’s a burnt orange shade, which is gorgeous looking. It would look amazing on fair to medium skin tone. I’ve been looking for such a shade since long but just couldn’t find one. I love the way it looks on me. In the picture, second from top is Mama swatches on my arm

2. Love Bug – this is a terracotta brown color. It is really pretty and works as a perfect nude for medium/wheatish skin tone. This would look great on all Indian girls. This is the first swatch
3. Lost – this shade is from their Ultra satin range while the other 4 are ultra matte. This color lasts for a lesser time as compared to the others. Is it because of the finish or the shade, I am not too sure. It’s a beautiful brick red color which brightens up my face.  This is the third swatch

4. More better – This is a dark magenta color which is really pretty. It would suit all Indian skin tones. If you’re into dark Pink lipsticks then you must try this one. This is the 4th swatch

5. Notion – this is a vampy dark maroon shade. It looks beautiful but it bleeds after few hours of applying it. So I have to be careful whenever I am wearing it. This is the 5th swatch

I have been using these lipsticks since the past 2 months now and I am in love with each of them. I don’t reach out for other lipsticks in my vanity. The formula is very nice, looks velvety and lasts for 5-6 hours. All this for just 6 USD per tube!

Above picture shows how the lipstick swatches look without flash and the below picture has been clicked with flash

You can purchase these beauties on http://www.colourpop.com. They do ship internationally. Free international delivery offered on purchase above 50 USD, however you may have to pay hefty custom charges.

Rekindling the fire

It has been forever since I wrote a blog post and I miss it!

I have so many things to write about but I’ve been just a lazy bum. If nothing else, I’ll share my weekend look. Just a casual summer t-shirt dress with colorful earrings 🙂

How have you been beating the summer heat? My trick is to have coconut water every morning and fresh fruit juices throughout the day to keep me hydrated.

Review: Himayala Kesar Face Pack

Hello!

This is a review of the third Himalaya product I tried since the past few weeks. It’s the Himalaya fairness kesar face pack. I’m very fond of salon visits and pampering time – but my hectic schedule makes it impossible to go as often as I would like to.

This is why I try different herbal face packs, masks, scrubs to feel fresh and keep my skin healthy. One may use these regularly without over using products on skin.

wp-1470423404722.jpg

Ideally I would like making face packs, scrubs and using them – but with availability of wide product range as that of Himalaya, there is no need for me to do so.

The key ingredients of Himalaya kesar face pack are:

wp-1470423438349.jpg

Turmeric; which helps to even out your skin tone and soothes the skin.

Walnut is particularly effective in treating acne and also helps in skin cell regeneration, toning the skin

Indian Aloe acts as an antibacterial, accelerates the healing of injured skin, softens and hydrates skin.

Kesar lightens skin, clears spots, enhances the complexion and gives skin an even tone.

I love the combination of ingredients used here – I think all skin types can use this product and benefit from it.

I use the pack on my face and keep it on for 10 minutes till it dries off completely. I think keeping it for 15 minutes would work better for some.

I have normal skin and this really makes my skin feel soft and gives a natural glow to my face.

I don’t care much for the fairness part of it – but it helps in cleansing all the dust off my face, which is great!

Would I recommend it? Yes, I think it is a product that can be tried across people of all skin types and age group.

You can always check on Himalaya’s Facebook and YouTube to be updated with the new product launches by your favorite herbal brand.

Have you tried any of the other Himalaya face packs that you think I should try? Kindly comment below 🙂

Review: Himalaya Herbals Purifying Neem Scrub

Hello! If you are on to this post after reading the review of Himalaya Walnut Scrub then you must be someone with normal – oily skin.

wp-1470423157971.jpg

Himalaya’s Purifying Neem Scrub claims to remove impurities and dead skin cells and cleanse excess oil from the skin’s surface, which is the root cause of acne. The scrub is blended with the goodness of Neem, which clears blackheads and acne, and Apricot, which hydrates the skin.

The Key Ingredients of this product are Neem and Apricot. Neem is an excellent skin care ingredient known for its antibacterial properties. Apricot granules gently exfoliate dead skin cells, to bring out the skin’s natural glow.

wp-1470423214335.jpg

This product is also priced at Rs. 130 for a 100 gms. It smells very similar to the Neem purifying face wash – which is again a product more suitable for normal to oily skin.

The texture of neem scrub is thick and the granules are very fine. Using neem products gives my skin a very soothing feel which is why I use this scrub once in a while after returning from office.

Who is it for?

People with normal to oily skin can use it 2-3 times a week.

People with dry skin may use it once a week

Neem purifying facewash by Himalaya is one of its most widely used products – All those who like the face wash should definitely try this scrub as well.

Review: Himalaya Herbals Gentle Exfoliating Walnut Scrub

Hola!

Writing after a month feels pretty good and bad at the same time. Good because I am back at it, and bad because I have so many things to write about that I cannot decide what to write first!

Recently I tried 3 products by Himalaya Herbals and I thought I must review them on the blog.

This post is about Himalaya Herbals Gentle Exfoliating Walnut Scrub. I am a regular scrub user since my work involves a lot of traveling and it takes a toll on my skin.

wp-1470422983654.jpg

Therefore I use a scrub twice a week to exfoliate all the dirt that my skin attracts. My preference has always been herbal scrubs for some reason – I seem to trust them more. Last year I purchased herbal walnut scrub from Kashmir, which worked wonders on my skin. After the product got over, I went looking for an alternative and found Himalaya’s Walnut scrub

The product claims to exfoliate dead skin cells to remove impurities that routine cleansing cannot tackle. It contains Crab Apple, a soothing antiseptic and keratolytic agent that helps loosen dead skin fragments.

The key ingredients are as below:

wp-1470423135954.jpg

  • Crab Apple has antiseptic, cooling, soothing, nutritive and prevents skin cell degeneration and premature skin aging.
  • Wheat Germ Oil, due to its high concentration of Vitamin E, along with proteins and natural antioxidants, is ideal for most skin types as it nourishes the skin and boosts the skin’s elasticity.
  • The exfoliating micro-particles in Walnut Shell scrub away dirt, blackheads and dead skin cells.

I have been using this over the past few weeks. My face feels pretty fresh after using the scrub and my mom loves using it too. The product has thick texture with a lot of granules that ensure to grab all the dust off the face. The scrub smells divine – it almost makes me want to eat it. For some reason it smells like a cupcake!

wp-1470423126452.jpgwp-1470422937161.jpgwp-1470423363369.jpg

The packaging is like other Himalaya products and contains 100 gms. It can be bought for just Rs 130/- which is really light on the pocket for something that fetches very nice results. I bought Himalaya Purifying Neem Scrub too – just to compare both and see which one works better for me. I like the walnut scrub better – for the smell and also probably since I love eating walnuts.

Who is it for?

People with normal to dry skin

How often can it be used?

2-3 times a week

It can be a part of one’s skin care ritual as it is a mild herbal product which is effective if used regularly.

Weekend at Lonavala

Hello all,

It has been forever since I actively blogged, but here I am today, posting second one for the day 😉

Last month, I went for a girls weekend trip to Lonavala to celebrate one of my college friend’s birthday

Just thought I must post some of the fun pics from the trip. We stayed at Picaddle resort in Lonavala, in the suite.

Unfortunately, I did not click pictures of the hotel or the room, but you can check out their website.

It is a nice property – 1 year old, has a big swimming pool and also water park – accessible only to the resort guests.

We had our meal at Broccoli, which is their multi cuisine veg restaurant – the food was pretty good!

10 Precautions You Need To Take To Enjoy Monsoon

img_20160306_174929_edit.jpg

10 Precautions You Need To Take To Enjoy Monsoon

Monsoon is finally at our doorstep. Heavy downpours are true to enjoy but,

keeping aside the fun in it and the relief from the heat and sweaty summers, we

need to think seriously over the various precautions we need to take to stay fit and

healthy. As we all know, Monsoon brings in a lot of epidemic and health related

issues. Cholera, Dengue, etc., are some of the serious illness that awaits us during

the Monsoon season. Fever and cold become the most common among all and

visiting hospital becomes a routine to many during this time.

So, what are the common precautions you need to take during the Monsoon to stay

fit and healthy, to enjoy Monsoon to the fullest? Have a look. Bear with these tips

for the entire season as health is equally important.

  1. Beware of Mosquitoes

Monsoon can be regarded as the breeding time for mosquitos as most of the places

will be filled with clogged water, where they can lay their eggs and with this they

spread serious health issues including Dengue! So, use mosquito repellents, nets

and other preventive measures to stay away from them. Buy mosquito killer plus

night lamp online to stay protected from online stores like Tolexo

2. Stay away from people who are sick

You might be fit and healthy but, just because you sit next to a sick person, you

have more chances of falling sick and getting bed-ridden. A cough, cold, and fever

will be transferred from person to person very frequently, and this can cause you

trouble. So, it is better if you stay away from individuals who are sick if you are

prone to get cold/fever so quickly.

3. No play in puddle water

Clogged and puddle water is a common sight during the monsoon. And certain

people cannot escape from these puddle water if they are a pedestrian. But, there

are some who purposely play in puddle water, and unknowingly they welcome

diseases. These water contain germs, and it can cause you harm. So, stay away

from these clogged water pools.

4. Avoid eating Ice Creams

Some people think that eating Ice Cream during the rainy season is the best thing!

Well, to be frank, it isn’t that way. Eating an ice cream during the rainy season can

get you nasal problems if you are prone to any nasal disease. If you do not have

nasal issues, then probably you can die on one or two ice creams for sure!

5. Eat food when it is hot

It is Monsoon! And, you food is likely to become cold very soon. But, its good to

prepare dishes a few hours before you plan to eat your meal. This will get you the

food fresh and hot which is very important during the Monsoon. If you cannot do

this, then you can try to make your food hot before eating so that it gets digested

easily.

Once in awhile, you can even go enjoying an amazing buffet at any of the best

hotels near your city with NearBuy.

6. Use raincoats umbrellas whenever necessary

It is raining season and it is not quite predictable when it will downpour. So, carry

a raincoat or an umbrella whenever you plan to move out. It is fun getting

drenched in the rain but, when it comes to health. It is not a fair deal at all if you

are weak health wise.

If you are traveling during the Monsoon times, you can enjoy comfortable stay

with free great amenities at premium hotels, by spending less. Book at Paytm

Hotels to enjoy comfort also to enjoy amazing cashbacks on your payment!

7. Drink boiled water

It is good and advised to drink boiled water rather than cold water. You can drink

water that is slightly hot, which can bring you some kind of relief from the cold

and if any nasal problem persists. If you cannot have hot water all the time, at least

drink boiled water for safety purposes. This can soothe your throat and can get you

relief from any kind of infections.

8. Get proper medication when it is necessary

You are likely to fall sick due to the sudden change in climate and also you might

need medical aid depending on the situation and the risk of disease at times. If you

feel any uneasy at initial stage, do not hesitate to get medical aid and this can bring

down your chances of falling sick.

9. Eat more veggies, fruits

Eat those foods that are easily digestible during the Monsoon. Add more

vegetables and fruits in you diet. Do not eat stale food during this season as the

chances of bacteria multiplication will be more. Enjoy soup this season. It is

healthy and is easily digestible.

10. Maintain Hygiene

Most importantly, maintain hygiene during this season. Keep your body neat, cut

your nails and keep them clean, take bath daily (head bath optional), change your

clothes daily, wear washed clothes – maintain these hygiene habits to stay safe

during the Monsoon.

April 2016 Fab bag review

Since March Fab bag review was put up with such delay, I thought I MUST write the April one right after it!

This is what I received in the April bag:

img_20160401_235120.jpgimg_20160401_235231.jpg

To be honest, the April bag is a total let down. It is the worst Fab bag I have received in the past 2 years of my subscription with the brand.

I hope it’s just a small bump in the road and not something they intend to do regularly – as it will lead to loss of subscribers. Another reason I thought I should write this post ASAP is for the benefit of first time users who are thinking of subscribing from this month onwards or for the ones who wish to go for a renewal. Ladies, April bag can be skipped and you won’t miss a thing – I think!

Take a look at the products that came in the April Fab bag and decide for yourself:

img_20160401_235004.jpg

I didn’t even feel like clicking some more pictures of this dismal bag and it’s contents. Why o why? I have also subscribed to Lip monthly bag, which is a monthly subscription for Lip products, based out of US and I am waiting for the bag to arrive – my only saving grace to make up for this disappointment, I think!

I am not very keen on writing bad reviews for most items I purchase, unless I feel it is absolutely useless for people or that the quality of the product is horrible.

The earring you see, is sent by Style Fiesta. It is flimsy and ugly – something I would not wear in a zillion years – nor should anyone else. It has a price tag of Rs. 499 but no one must even accept it for free. So, if you are unfortunate enough to receive it, do yourself a favor and toss it in the bin.

I was given a choice to select the Catrice product for this month. The options were between lip pencil, kohl and some colored eye pencils and I thought lip pencil would be the best option as per my usage.

I don’t use colored eye pencils much and the kohl pencil reviews were not great, so lip pencil was the safest bet.

Face masks and scrubs are something I use often and finish them off. The only other product I am sure to use is the Soul tree cleansing milk, which I have used tonight already to cleanse my face. I like soul tree, since it is paraben & silicone free + Ayurvedic. The product does it’s job – which isn’t much and I don’t think I will repurchase it again.

Hope your April bag makes you happy ~

Let me know if you agree or disagree with my views on this month’s products!

March Fab bag 2016 Review

Okay, so this post is super late. It’s April 1st and I have already received my April Fab Bag. Kudos to Fab bag for managing that! But to be fair, I was travelling for the better part of March when I received my Fab bag, hence the delay.

I thought I must do a short showcase of what I got in the March bag before writing about the April one.

This is what the March Fab bag looked like. Not really nice, but better than a useless cardboard box as such. That’s all.

img_20160314_055522.jpg

This is the product card that came along, with details of what we received in the bag:

img_20160402_005132.jpg

img_20160314_055852.jpg

img_20160314_060302.jpg

The bag is not disappointing at all. Sugar cosmetics are usually pretty nice, I have received their Eye told you so and the Matte As Hell lip crayon in the past. However, this lipcolor was a let down.It comes out as patchy on the lips, maybe the other colors are better. If anyone wishes to get a full review of the product, please mention below, and I shall do the needful.

The Nykaa nail paint quality is really awesome. The color is good and it stayed on my nails for more than 8 days comfortably (which is great!) Most of the nail paints except gel ones wear off real quick – unless you’re wearing something like MAC.

I have not yet tried the Spa Ceylon scrub and Wella products. If you have noticed, I am not too big on using up the hair products since I pretty much ignore hair care (in my opinion)

I do take care of my feet (since I feel they are the ugliest part of my body:P) but that bit is mostly left to the professionals, so I seldom end up using foot scrubs. But by going by my previous experience with the brand I am pretty sure that the product is upto the mark.

Do let me know if you liked your March Fab bag, and I would love to kn0w how good was your experience with the nail paint and lipcolor – to understand if they are worth repurchasing or not.

Stay lovely and keep reading 🙂
